Boerderij bibliotheken
Goed nieuws uit Kaapstad van Biblionef SA!
On Friday 7th April 2006 the 4 Farm libraries in Rooiberg Robertson have been opened for the use of the workers, their families and especially their children who previously had no direct access to a library or even books of any kind in the Rooiberg area.
Three of these four libraries were converted from spare outbuildings. In the fourth library, in the Riverside area, Biblionef made use a farm worker's home, installing shelves of books in their foyer. During the handover day, each one of the libraries was visited and officially opened by proudly cutting the ribbon; each visit attracting large crowds of locals, mostly the children who will benefit from the books.
The appreciation of both adults and children in Robertson was apparent throughout; the eagerness to enter their new library and the anticipation on their faces epitomised this appreciation. To culminate these opening celebrations, a formal function was held at the Rooiberg Community Hall in the Goree district. The success of the project was only possible because Biblionef received the necessary funds from DEVCO, a subsidiary of the South African wine industry.
De foto's spreken voor zich! Ik ben echt trots op Biblionef, want op deze wijnboerderijen was niks en je ziet hoeveel kinderen er wonen. Nu hebben ze deze plaasbibliotheken (plaas = boerderij) vol nieuwe boeken tot hun beschikking. Echt goed!
